Is ADHD a Learning Disability?
What do you think…is ADHD a learning disability?
There is disagreement, even among experts, whether ADHD is itself a learning disability, a learning disorder, or something else entirely. No matter what you label it, I can personally attest that left untreated, having ADHD impacts our ability to study and learn. That “learning” may be in a traditional classroom environment, like while studying at University. It could be gaining skills and knowledge to advance our professional lives. It could even be while trying to help our own kids with their homework!
Speaking of kids…are you aware that you can pass ADHD on to your kids?
Since ADHD is genetic, there is a good chance that if you have it, one or more of your kids will too. Fortunately, for both us and our kids, we know a lot more about ADHD now then when we were growing up! We know a lot more and we know that we can actually work with it to have successful, happy lives!
We all want the best for our kids, and getting a handle on your own ADHD symptoms is one of the best gifts you can give your kids—especially if it turns out that they also have ADHD.
At One Focus Total Success we help thousands of adults with ADHD to conquer their symptoms, and one of the “side effects” of helping these adults is when our clients who have kids pass on what they’ve learned! As a parent with ADHD myself, I know that I will be better able to spot the signs if my daughter has it—and I’m thrilled to know that I have some tips and tricks up my sleeve that I can pass on to her that will help make her school life more fun, and easier, than mine was!
Maybe since I do work with adults I’m not as concerned about whether ADHD should be officially labeled a learning disability in kids—not because I don’t care…but because I know that no matter what we label it, there’s help!
